Security Camera System Checklist

Black/White or Color?
Color Cameras are more popular, due to their clearer identifications. But, in low light conditions, B/W cameras are more ideal, because they generally require less illumination. Newer models of Day/Night cameras work as color camera during daytime and B/W at night.

2.What basic equipments are necessary to start video surveillance?
Camera body, Lens, Mount, Cable, and Power Supply.
Some cameras (like dome and bullet type cameras) come with built-in lenses. You will also need CCTV monitor (or regular TV), quad splitter or switcher to combine more than one camera, recorder (like DVR), outdoor housing case and other accessories. Wireless systems are great way to avoid cabling. Network based Web Cameras and DVRs are for remote surveillance.

3.What if I need more than one camera?
A quad splitter, 4 channel or 8 channel switcher, or multiplexer can be used to combine multiple cameras into one monitor or recorder. DVRs usually come with a built-in multiplexer.

4.Hidden Cameras
If you want a hidden camera, you have two options; you can either build one with a mini or an ultra-mini camera, or buy one. Some ultra-mini cameras are only as big as a quarter to hide more easily. Hidden cameras built-in clocks, radios, or smoke detectors are also available but are generally more costly. Please note that, in most US states, using hidden cameras with audio in a covert way is prohibited.

5.Placing cameras outdoors
You may use an outdoor housing case, with or without heater and/or blower. The heater and/or blower built-in housing cases generally require a separate power source. Some cameras are made water resistant and do not need separate housing cases. Some of these also come with removable sunshields.
6.When are infrared cameras necessary?

Economically commercialized infrared cameras, some also water-resistant to be installed outdoor, can see up to 40 to 80ft distance in total darkness. You may also use infrared illuminators, which can illuminate up to 100ft (Color cameras, unless their IR filter is removed, do not work with infrared illuminators.) Infrared cameras work as ordinary video camera during daytime. Color infrared cameras work as B/W ones at night.

7.What is an ideal angle for a lens to cover?
Widely used and recommended angle of view of the lens for surveillance purpose is 72o to 78o. Narrower will give you clearer pictures. Wide angles like 92o can cover more area but it may show distorted pictures.

8.Vari-focal vs. Zoom Lens
Focal length and focusing for vari-focal lens should be adjusted respectively while zoom lens focuses automatically when the focal length is adjusted. Manual zoom lens needs to be manually adjusted while motorized zoom lens can be controlled with a remote controller.

9.Manual Iris vs. Auto Iris

If the lighting condition changes significantly and frequently, like the sun, an auto iris lens is required. If the lighting remains same, a manual iris or a fixed iris lens is recommended. Most CCTV cameras accept DC auto iris lens while some special cameras use video auto iris lens.

10. Do I need pinhole lens?

A pinhole lens with a tiny opening can be hidden in the wall, ceiling or other objects. Some mini cameras have a built-in pinhole lens. To mount a pinhole lens to a standard camera is very expensive.

11. CCTV Monitor vs. Standard TV

If you are use only one camera, a TV (which has a RCA video input) is definitely recommended. Even for more than 1 camera, if you use a processor like a quad splitter, a switcher, or a DVR (Digital Video Recorder), a TV would be fine. But, for special features like slave video outputs (to be connected to additional monitors), alarm systems, or for multiple inputs, professional CCTV monitors work best.

12. CRT vs. LCD Monitor
Conventional CRT monitors are bulky and heavy while they are cheaper than LCD monitors which has higher resolution. If you have enough budgets and want to use one monitor for both CCTV and computer, LCD monitor is recommended. 17″ & 19″ are popular sizes for LCD monitors.
13. Monitor Input Connectors

BNC is commonly used for connecting to both CRT and LCD monitors. These days, most LCD monitors have an S-Video input as well as a 15-pin Mini D-Sub for PC Signal input.

14. Wireless vs. Wired Transmission

A wireless system is convenient in avoid cabling works, but can sometimes be affected by high voltage power lines, unseen razor waves, large machines like lathes, and metal walls. Wired transmission guarantees stable video. Coaxial cable is most used for CCTV cameras.

15. 12VDC vs. 24VAC

24VAC system is more professional and most CCTV cameras work with a 24VAC power supply. Mini cameras, dome cameras, and bullet type cameras are usually 12VDC system. Recently developed cameras have both 12VDC and 24VAC inputs.

16. Battery operated cameras

Many small sized cameras work with 12VDC battery pack; however it requires correctly matched polarity. You may also use a “power cord” (easily found at any auto parts shop) that can draw 12VDC through the car cigarette lighter.

17. Motion detection

Most DVRs now come with built-in motion detection software to trigger recording. You can program the sensitivity and detection zone. It works with any change of the pixels within the picture frame. You can also install a hardware motion detector connected to the DVRs to trigger recording.

18. Pan, Tilt, and Zoom control

A dome type camera that already has built-in PTZ is easy to install, maintain, and control. You can also control it on the computer monitor with the mouse if the PTZ system is connected on the network via a video server.

19. Time Lapse VCR vs. DVR(Digital Video Recorder)

Conventional Time Lapse VCR, despite the inconvenience in reviewing the recorded pictures, is more economical than a DVR (Digital Video Recorder). DVRs are more popular for its convenience and picture quality.

20. Remote Surveillance over the Network

Network DVR or Web Camera, connected to the Internet or LAN and assigned with an IP address, can be monitored at a remote place. DSL or T-1 line is required to be connected to the Internet.

21. HD CCTV System

As the TV Broadcasting changed to HD (High Definition) System, it’s time for HD cameras to come to the market. Still, the traditional standard resolution system does not accept HD cameras and you have homework to prepare peripheral devices such as recorders to accept the HD cameras.

Discount Auto Parts And Accessories – Making The Best Purchase

Wanting to buy auto parts and accessories at a cheaper cost? It looks like we are all in search for best finds and practically speaking, these “best finds” in our own vocabulary are the ones in which we can buy at a lower cost but are in the best of quality. When we search for them in the search engines, we would definitely search for “discount, auto parts and accessories”, making sure that the word ‘discount’ was included in the search.

Yes, we all want to make an excellent purchase but we don’t want to pay for more than what we can afford. Now, does that make perfect sense? Thankfully, our search for best finds in auto parts and accessories will not be in vain because a lot of them are available and can be purchased online. The Internet makes it possible for us to make that excellent purchase because it’s all in there – wheels and tires, headlights, steering wheels, car seats, and definitely a whole lot more. All the things you would want to buy for your cars, motorcycles and other vehicles are all in there.

Buying used and discounted auto parts and accessories is also an excellent idea because you can definitely buy them at the cheapest deals. However, you would need to check on the quality as well should you decide to buy. There are also brand new parts which are reasonably priced because you are buying from wholesalers who are selling retail for wholesale or factory price. If you also want to buy branded products like Honda auto parts for your classic cars and motorcycles, or a Harley Davidson for vintage motorbikes, etc., you can simply browse the Internet auction sites for the best prices and deals.

Selling auto parts and accessories online is the most practical way of earning a profitable income. This is why it is already convenient for most of us to buy almost everything online.

The hottest place to buy discounted items is through Ebay because people can now choose to buy through verified and top sellers. All Is Well With The Willys

In New Delhi: Indian Times News Network has reported that the Willys Jeep which was popular during the Second World War in the forties was recently reported to be going strong. It should be noted that the Willys Jeep has become an icon before the 70s and 80s and has continued to be so until new age vehicles took over.

In a small and dusty town of Punjab, there is still a strong market for the old and abandoned Jeep chassis which automobile lovers go to shop. The largest second-hand jeep market of Moga has connoisseurs that have even descended from the hilly reigns of Shimla, and a number of other states. And thats not all! Who would ever think that the famous Porsche preferring NRI clan in Punjab has become an avid follower of the Jeep Mandi?

According to Mohinder Singh, one of the dealers in Moga, if you see the old chassis and new Jeep Willys, you will not be able to find even one fault in the car and one look at it will make you buy it. Furthermore, once the Willys price is told, next time you know its gone. It only takes about 60 seconds to sell a Willys. The price range of a Willys Jeep starts from Rs 1.65 lakh to a maximum of Rs 2 lakh. The Jeep with all its wonders is one incredible purchase.

The abandoned chassis is fitted with a top of the line Toyota turbo diesel engine which is preferred for its high fuel efficiency and pick up performance and cost about Rs 40,000. Also available are modern accessories and chrome alloys with price ranging from Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000. The prices also include the margin of dealers that reaches up to Rs 30,000.

The Willys were given post modifications and are set to hit the road. The main road of Moga is flooded with different people especially during Sundays, who converge to the place not only to buy the latest Jeep but also to get the best set of wheels for their vehicles. The latest open air Jeep with its low price tag is not a bad buy at all especially since most of its components like for instance its Jeep exhaust manifold and other auto parts have undergone the same stern quality test as that of the range toppers.

Jagmohan Singh, another Jeep dealer in Moga, There are close to 100 dealers here in the city and each dealer sold at least 10 Jeeps every week. That transpires into a lot of business for us. Many ministers and local MLAs also come here. In fact, most of the students purchasing the Jeep end up getting upgrades every week.

The Moga Jeep Mandi has been in close competition with the Dabwali Mandi which is situated in Sangrur. But according to dealers from Moga they have been able to surpass the Dabwali benchmark since they sell more Jeeps. Most of the dealers purchase their chassis from army auctions but since the auction have ceased, dealers from villagers provide the Jeep Mandi with chassis. Such trade has not affected business at all. The Moga treatment to Jeep has been selling like hotcakes and this has been going on prior to the changes from the army side.

Aftermarket Auto Parts Industry Of Today

No matter where you live, if you own a car you would have used an aftermarket product at least once in your life. These aftermarket parts are car parts made by unauthorized dealers. It began with the outsourcing of auto parts manufacturing contracts to subcontract companies. But many of these subcontract companies sold the auto parts to the automobile market circuitously.

The most vital fact is that aftermarket parts are always cheaper than OEM parts anywhere in the world. This is the main reason why people turn to aftermarket parts rather than original auto parts. People will always want to spend a little less. It is human mentality and saving the extra buck is not crime. It is just good practice.

Different aftermarket parts company brands are very distinct from one another. Thus it is very important to research properly about the different makes and come to the right decision regarding the perfect aftermarket part. Seeking help from learned car buffs is a good idea. As even though aftermarket parts are relatively cheap, you would not want to be stuck with something that gives inferior performance.

In our world we come across a variety of individuals with different pursuits. Some car enthusiasts build cars from scratch or restore old models with aftermarket auto parts. They might keep these unique vehicles for themselves or sell them at a greater price and make big profits. The advantage of using aftermarket parts here is the minimal investment promises great returns.

If you want to ‘play it safe’ when modifying your vehicle, consider this. Carmakers are manufacturing performance parts and accessory systems for their cars now more than ever before. Before installing anything aftermarket on a vehicle that has a warranty in place, check with your dealer/carmaker to see if there are parts/systems available for your particular vehicle from the manufacturer that would provide for the vehicle’s warranty.

The most recent salvo in the attack on aftermarket parts comes from an unlikely source: Consumer Reports. In a recent article and blog posting, the magazine seems to be reporting that the use of aftermarket replacement parts — like a plastic bumper cover or inner bumper structure — could cause problems with air bag deployment. Sounds scary, huh? I’m sure it’s meant to.

If you have a fairly new vehicle, and it’s damaged in an accident, I think using original manufacturer parts is important. If nothing else, it preserves your car’s resale value. If you’re paying out of pocket, however, I’m not convinced a less expensive part will be so harmful. It’s really a judgment call on the owner’s part. Aftermarket parts, especially cheap Chinese body panels, tend to fit poorly, rust more easily, and dent quickly.

Hopefully this information clears things up a bit regarding aftermarket parts and your vehicle’s warranty. I wish you success!

How To Make Your Car Tyres Last Longer

For a tyre to be road legal in the United Kingdom it must have at least 1.6mm of tread in a continuous band across the middle 75% of the tread width. It should also be free of cuts, bruises or bulges as these signify excessive wear and tear and could compromise the integrity of the tyre whilst on the road.

New tyres start life with around 8mm of tread, which is gradually worn off throughout the life of the tyre. As the tread wears off, the tyre’s performance begins to degrade, particularly in wet conditions. This is because the tread is designed to remove water from the surface of the road and prevent aquaplaning. Less tread means less water can be removed and the risk of aquaplaning increases. When your car aquaplanes you have little to no control over the direction it travels in, making it a very dangerous situation indeed.

Now, whilst the legal limit for tyre tread is 1.6mm most manufacturers recommend you change your tyres when the tread is worn to between 2 and 3mm. This is not simply a way of getting you to replace your tyres more often – a tyre with 3mm of tread will typically have a stopping distance 8m shorter in wet conditions than a tyre with 1.6mm of tread – a drastic difference.

Once the tread depth on your tyres begin to approach the legal threshold it’s important to have them replaced. Either take your car to a nearby garage or, if you’re local to the area, search for ‘mobile tyre fitting Oxfordshire‘and have your tyres replaced without having to leave the comfort of your own home.

Firstly, the brand of tyre you choose will have an effect on how long they are likely to last. You can expect to get at least 20,000 miles out of a premium brand of tyre, plus the added benefit of shorter distances, better handling and greater fuel economy. Premium brands are also the quietest tyres to drive on the road. As you might have guessed, they are also the most expensive.

Mid-range tyres might be more within your budget and a decent set should last you around 15,000 miles. At the bottom end, budget tyres will save you money in the short term but you might only get 8,000 to 10,000 miles out of the cheapest set. You should also be prepared to sacrifice handling in wet conditions.

Your driving style is also going to have a large impact on how long you can expect to go between changing your tyres. Boy-racers and would-be rally drivers can expect to burn through rubber far faster than the little old lady who rarely gets past third gear. The stereotypes are of course exaggerated but the point still stands; gentle braking and acceleration will add months, if not years to your tyres’ lifespans. Driving carefully also reduces the risk of minor accidents that can be damaging to your tyres such as hitting a curb.

Being aware of what’s going on around you and anticipating when you’re likely to have to slow down or stop is also part of prolonging the lifespan of your tyres. Being able to see ahead and anticipate scenarios that would otherwise require you to slam on will do wonders for your fuel economy and also the longevity of the rubber around your wheels.

Ensuring your tyres are inflated to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure is very important for a number of reasons. Not only will it help maintain your car’s fuel economy, it also protects your tyres as well as reducing the risk of your car losing grip or skidding.

The recommended pressure can be found in your car’s user manual, online or on the inside of the fuel flat. The pressure indicated on the outside of the tyre wall is the maximum pressure to which the tyres can be inflated. The best time to check your tyres’ pressures is when they are cold, before a journey.

Finally, your car’s balancing and wheel alignment can play a major part in how quickly and evenly your tyres’ tread wears down. Whilst these are more difficult to check at home, if you feel your car pulling to one side, if the car feels lighter or heavier in certain areas or if the car vibrates excessively then your alignment or balancing could be out. Take the car to a local garage for an inspection and save your tyres.

Selling Cars For Profit.

People in countries around the world are earning lucrative incomes buying and selling cars for profit – you could too! It doesnt necessarily require a lot of investment, and you can create a nice second income in your spare time. Of course, you can also make a full-time business of it and earn a very good income – the choice is yours!

Its actually a very simple business. Your success depends on you knowing things such as which makes and models are the best to flip for good profits, where to find and buy them at bargain prices, how to negotiate with sellers and buyers, and how to advertise effectively. Learn as much as you can, take a methodical approach, and you can quite easily average a few hundred dollars profit on each lower-priced car you flip and a few thousand dollars on higher priced models.

What you need to know

You dont have to have a lot of mechanical knowledge to sell cars for cash, but you do need to know the value of cars. Its best to focus on vehicles that are in reasonable demand, and to make sure you get them at the right prices. As with investing in real estate, when you buy and sell cars your profit is actually made when you buy. In other words, the less you pay for the car the more you will make when you sell it.

How to get started

If youre interested in buying and selling cars for profit, start learning about your market. Look at classified ads, attend auto auctions, check online and even look on dealers lots. Note which makes and models appear to be popular, and get an idea of what prices are like on those ones. Compare prices between private sales, dealers and auctions, and make notes.

You want to learn what you can potentially sell a given model for, so you know how much to offer when you find one for sale. When considering what to offer on a vehicle, used car pricing guides (the blue book and the like) can be used as references, but keep in mind that some only show inflated retail prices. This is a great reference for you as a seller, but as a buyer you want to know the cars trade-in or wholesale value. Some of the used car pricing guides list trade-in prices as well as retail prices.

Once you get a good idea of your local market, you can start looking for deals. We also highly recommend that you find someone who is already doing this profitably. Take them out for lunch, find out what they do and how they got started, and pick their brain for tips and advice. Perhaps he or she will even mentor you on your first few deals.

Learn as much as you can on your own as well. There are a variety of books, courses and other materials available on buying and selling cars for profit take advantage of them. Considering that you can sell cars for cash part-time and still make thousands of dollars, not to mention a lucrative full-time income, its worth spending a few bucks on some training. It could be worth thousands in additional profits!

Its a good time to get into the business!

You can buy and sell cars profitably in any economic climate, but a fluctuating economy (such as the present one) can yield some definite opportunities for you.

For example, people whose financial situations are uncertain often decide to sell their vehicles to get spendable cash as quickly as possible. These motivated sellers provide you with a good range of vehicles to choose from, usually at discount asking prices.

Motivated sellers can usually be talked down even further. Its entirely possible to pick up a good vehicle for less than 50% of its resale value, and 65%-70% is common. You then resell the cars that you picked up at a substantial discount to new buyers for a lesser discount. The difference between the prices minus taxes and transfer fees is your profit!

Dont worry about being able to sell your purchases: there are always people looking for well-priced vehicles and as long as you choose the right models and get them at the right prices, youll find buyers.

Your seller can also be your buyer!

In some situations you can even buy and sell to the same person. Consider the following example: a fairly well-off seller has to sell his BMW (worth $55,000) to cover some debts caused by the fluctuating stock market. Hes only asking $50,000 because he needs a quick sale. You offer him $47,500 and he accepts.

Now this seller needs a vehicle, perhaps in the $20,000 range this time. You just happen to have access to a nice older-model BMW in that price range (which you can pick up for $15,000) and you offer it to him at $20,000. He accepts. Right there, youve made $5000 profit on the older BMW and picked up a newer BMW for $7,500 below resale value all in one deal. This example is hypothetical, but this kind of deal takes place all the time. The dollar amount doesnt matter: it can work if the vehicles worth $2000, $20,000 or $200,000.

One more thing…

Depending on where you live, if you sell more than a certain number of cars per year then you may need to apply for a dealer license. If you buy and sell cars for profit part-time then you probably wont need a license; most states and provinces allow you to sell 4 to 6 cars per year without one.

One way to sell more cars without a license is by recruiting friends or family. When you buy cars, have them register it in their names in return for a percentage of the profits. As an example, if your state or province allows 5 unlicensed sales per person per year you could buy and sell 5 cars yourself, 5 through a friend, and 5 through your spouse or partner.

However, if you plan on selling more than that its probably worth it to apply for a dealers license. The paperwork is usually straightforward, and being a licensed dealer also gives you access to more resources for buying and trading cars at wholesale prices: dealer networks, dealer-only auctions and more.

Go for it!

You can buy and sell cars for profit and make a lucrative income doing it! Its fun and exciting, and there is always room to expand your business. Just make sure you educate yourself well and remember that its like any other business: the more positive energy and action you put in, the more positive results (and profits) you will receive!

Buying Auto Parts for your vehicle can be tricky especially when purchasing online, it is important that you get the right Auto Parts for your vehicle. Typically, you buy Auto Parts because you need them to either get your vehicle back on the road or to keep it on the road either way, time is of the essence. Buying Auto Parts online is a very cost effective alternative to purchasing them locally from a Dealership or Auto Parts Store, but there are some considerations. Shipping Automobile Parts across the country is both time consuming and carries a cost so it is important to get the right auto parts the first time. One of the biggest issues facing a consumer buying Auto Parts online is that they are not familiar with Aftermarket Automobile Parts terminology.

Here are a few tips to help you find the right Auto Parts for your vehicle.

The ALL TYPES fitment note means that the Auto Part should fit all sub models and engine configurations for that particular Year, Make, and Model (YMM).
If your vehicle comes with REAR DISC BRAKE (also known as BRAKE ROTORS) then it uses Rear BRAKE PADS. We commonly refer to this braking system as WITH 4 WHEEL DISC. If you see Rear Brake Pads with the fitment note of ALL TYPES, it means it will fit vehicles with Rear Disc Brakes not Rear Brake Drums.
If your vehicle comes with REAR BRAKE DRUMS, then it uses Rear BRAKE SHOES. We commonly refer to this setup as WITH REAR DRUM. If you see Rear BRAKE SHOES with the fitment note of ALL TYPES, it means it will fit vehicles with Rear Brake Drums not Rear Disc Brakes.
Since 1986 (outside of Mexico), BRAKE DRUMS are only available as part of a rear braking system.
All vehicles (outside of Mexico) since 1986 come with FRONT DISC BRAKES (also known as BRAKE ROTORS).
The WITH ABS fitment note can refer to vehicles with either 2 WHEEL ABS or 4 WHEEL ABS.
We commonly use the fitment note SPECIAL HANDLING PACKAGE to describe vehicles used as taxis, police vehicles, limousines, or other specially modified vehicles.
A COMPLETE STRUT ASSEMBLY contains the strut rod, coil spring, mounting plate, and other parts depending on the particular configuration of the vehicle and installation requirements. Purchasing a COMPLETE STRUT ASSEMBLY will save you or your mechanic both time and money.
HUB BEARINGS or HUB ASSEMBLIES, like Complete Struts, contain multiple parts, including the WHEEL BEARING, which makes installation easier and more cost-effective since there is no need to press the WHEEL BEARING into place. Most vehicles with ABS have to be replaced with a HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY.
You should always replace BRAKE ROTORS and BRAKE DRUMS in pairs. Failure to do so can cause uneven wear, strain, and can even damage your vehicle. Replacing STRUTS and HUB BEARINGS in pairs is also a good idea because if one is worn out, the other is probably close behind replacing both at the same time saves you both time and money!
Many Auto Part fitment notes contain measurements to determine the correct vehicle application. Ask your mechanic for exact measurements before ordering your Auto Parts.
Some vehicles manufacturers change a vehicles configuration during the same production year. In this case, an Auto Part will have a date in the fitment note. The sticker on the Drivers Side door shows your vehicles date of production.

Always make sure you read the fitment notes carefully and if you are unsure whether or not an Auto Part will fit your vehicle, please give us a call and one of our Auto Parts Customer Service Representatives will be happy to assist you.
